Chapter 1041 Pharaoh: Meow meow meow meow?
"Where are we now?"
The second Rorschach asked the Pharaoh in a low voice.
At this moment, on the streets of Gotham in the main universe, only Ozymandias and Rorschach walked side by side, while the two supervillains, Mime and Marionette, were tethered to their spaceships.
"An Earth that is not so different from our world, meow—" said the Pharaoh.
The second Rorschach tries to ignore the Pharaoh's new quirk.
"It's possible that this is what happened to us—we flew into the sky and then crashed into the ground," he said casually. He was looking at the television in the shop window next to him, unaware that passersby exchanged glances with him when they saw him wearing the black and white, ever-changing hood, and their expressions changed slightly.
"The Shadow of Nathaniel movie marathon stars Cavill Coleman as a private detective with nothing to lose!"
"Hmm—" The second-generation Rorschach looked at the television and spoke: "GBC will broadcast the series uncut and uninterrupted, including the controversial award-winning film 'Vacation'! Directed by Jacques Turnier and released in 1954, this film is the final installment of the Shadow of Nathaniel series, released after the murder of Cavill Coleman—whose death left behind one of the most brutal unsolved murder cases in Hollywood history—"
"This city is called Gotham Cat," Pharaoh said, holding a newspaper.
"Gotham?"
"Yes, I know, meow. It seems that the world is a few years ahead of us in some aspects, meow, and behind us in others."
Rorschach was waiting for the Pharaoh to add a "meow" at the end of his sentence, but it seemed he was using his willpower to swallow the meow back.
"There are many areas where we can catch up," the Pharaoh said.
"Where should I begin?"
"Start with Hemingway, Wolff, and Mayakovsky," the Pharaoh replied.
Soon, they appeared at the Gotham City Museum.
"Hemingway, Wolff, and Mayakovsky have something in common —"
"I don't really like it here, Pharaoh. It's kind of scary. Let's go."
"Wait a minute, Rorschach, this is incredible. While there are many differences between this place and our world, the biggest difference lies in the considerable number of cross-dressers here, including many who are purely fictional in our world."
"What's fictional in our world, perhaps Manhattan created them—"
"Perhaps Manhattan is one of them, changing its appearance and name. It's possible that Joan might want to start over with a completely new identity and seek a second chance."
"What second chance?"
Rorschach leaned over, while Pharaoh continued searching on the library's computers.
"A second chance to save the world, but most of those in uniforms are superhumans. Dr. Manhattan's problem has been multiplied by 100—meow meow meow meow meow meow meow????"
"Damn it!" Rorschach and Pharaoh screamed in unison. When they came to their senses, they found themselves still in the Gotham City Library, but the decor had changed from all sorts of eerie and terrifying gargoyles and marble to some kind of prehistoric thatched hut with mammoth decorations.
"What the hell is this—"
"Whoa, wow wow wow wow!?"
Then Pharaoh and Rosa saw a Neanderthal—a true Neanderthal, the previous human species before humans evolved from apes into Homo sapiens, a species that should have gone extinct long ago—walk in dressed in proper clothes, pointing at the two of them and letting out a strange roar.
"Damn it, we—"
'
"It seems we've been thrown into some kind of messed-up timeline, meow." The Pharaoh's tension was palpable in his words; he no longer even had the strength to suppress his new verbal tic.
"I've done research on Dr. Manhattan before. Theoretically speaking, as a quantum god, he has the ability to manipulate timelines, meow—"
"7
"I don't understand, if Dr. Manhattan doesn't want to see us..."
"That means it's me and some third party in Manhattan who's behind this, meow," Pharaoh said, jumping up and punching the Neanderthal librarian unconscious, before trying to continue searching on the drastically altered computer.
The computer screens in this world are all round.
Pharaoh is indeed the smartest person in the Watchers universe. Although he has never heard of the Void Hand, he deduced the general truth based solely on the changes in the world. If that third party, the Void Hand, would not want him to meet with Dr. Manhattan, then the attacks they have suffered would not have been limited to this one.
He needs to gather as much information as possible in order to achieve his ultimate goal of finding Dr. Manhattan.
"Damn it, Vittor (Pharaoh), we have to go. That guy's roar just now attracted more Neanderthals! Stop looking, you can't understand their language at all," the Pharaoh said. "But even though the timeline has changed, I'm still looking at the webpage from the previous timeline. I can get a lot of information from the pictures."
"If we don't escape, and we get surrounded, we'll be facing the police or something."
"It's okay, Rorschach, I can turn into a big cat."
"You don't intend to fight your way out, do you?"
The Pharaoh turned and gave Rorschach a look: "If necessary."
Rorschach then remembered just how much the Pharaoh was—a bastard who disregarded life.
"Damn it!"
Rorschach immediately rushed toward the gate. All he could do now was prevent anyone from entering and disturbing the Pharaoh, lest the Pharaoh transform into some kind of cat-like beast and begin a massacre.
If the Pharaoh claims he can transform, it means he has mastered the ability to freely transform through some kind of training. He has truly become a superhuman through fusion with the cat cloned from the remains of Dr. Manhattan.
"No rush, Rorschach." The Pharaoh grabbed the second Rorschach and pointed to the door: "See, just lock the door first."
Rorschach immediately complied, while the Pharaoh continued to gather intelligence as quickly as possible.
But the door was quickly broken open. The library security guards, who were also Neanderthals, used tools to pry open the door and rushed in, engaging Rorschach in a fierce fight.
Midway through the battle, Pharaoh and Rorschach disappeared again, leaving a group of Neanderthals staring at each other in bewilderment.
"Aaaaaaaahhhhh!"
"Meow meow meow meow meow!"
Like a tingling electric shock, with pills forming all over their bodies, Pharaoh and Rorschach found themselves in a new timeline.
"Damn it!"
This is a bizarre library that looks like it was built from a pile of dirt. The computer in the Pharaoh's hand has turned into a stone slab. Rorschach looked outside and exclaimed, "Everyone in this timeline is a dinosaur!"
"But at least three people have always been there."
He heard the Pharaoh say that he turned the stone tablet around, on which were drawn the marks of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
"We need to find Batman," the Ozymandias said.
"I know, but how do I find it?"
"That third party keeps teleporting us to different timelines. But this doesn't come without a price. Haven't you noticed? No matter which timeline we're on, we're in the library, which means he can't arbitrarily change our location, can't just throw us into some ocean trench, and can't just kill us at will."
He pointed to the open door next to the room, and Rorschach finally realized it.
He had locked the door inwards to stop the Neanderthals, but they broke the lock and rushed in.
This resulted in the door lock of the library room in this dinosaur timeline still being broken. Now that they have traveled to the dinosaur world, the Neanderthals did not rush into the room, but the door lock in the dinosaur world is still broken.
The Pharaoh said, "In other words, in order for that third party to successfully transfer us to other timelines, all we need to do is find a way to attract the attention of those three people. Then, by constantly jumping through timelines, we can help make every Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in the worlds we have jumped through notice the anomaly."
A glint of light appeared in his eyes: "So, this is the plan, meow."
