Chapter 279 Celebrating the New Year Abroad
Chapter 279 Celebrating the New Year Abroad
"Alright, alright, that's enough dumplings."
Fu Yibai interrupted their "argument" and brought the wrapped dumplings to the stove.
"Scarlett, did you make the filling?"
"Um.
"Beef and celery—I asked the owner of a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, and he said it's a must-have for Chinese New Year in northern China."
Scarlett put the dumplings into the boiling water. The white dough tumbled in the boiling water and gradually became translucent, revealing the bright green filling inside.
Fu Yibai leaned against the kitchen counter, watching the two women's busy figures.
Annie was cutting fruit, her knife skills were still clumsy, and the apple pieces were cut into uneven sizes, but she was very serious, her lips pursed into a line.
Scarlett is mixing the dipping sauce: soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and minced garlic.
"Oh, right."
Fu Yibai spoke.
"What are your plans for this period of time?"
"The script for Black Widow 2 is still being polished."
Scarlett didn't turn her head.
"Margaret said that filming could not begin until the end of the year at the earliest."
I've been mainly busy promoting "Iron Man 2" lately, and next month I'll be going to Tokyo and Seoul.
"I did take on an independent film project."
Anne put the cut fruit into a glass bowl.
"The director is a newcomer who just came from Sundance. The script is very interesting. It tells the story of two sisters who run a hotel in Alaska."
The filming period was short, about two months.
When will you join the crew?
"Early March. So..."
She turned around, met Fu Yibai's gaze, and smiled slightly.
"I have one more month to spend with you."
Scarlett nudged Anne's waist from behind.
"Will you be with him, or will he be with you?"
"Is there any difference?"
The two women exchanged a glance and smiled simultaneously.
The dumplings are cooked.
Scarlett scooped it out with a slotted spoon and put it into three plates.
The three people carried plates into the restaurant, where several dishes were already laid out on the table—steak, salad, roasted vegetables, and an opened bottle of red wine.
"etc."
Fu Yibai stood up, walked to the living room, and took a red cardboard box out of his suitcase.
"What is this?"
Annie looked curiously at the thing in his hand.
Spring Festival couplets.
Fu Yibai opened the packaging and unfolded two long strips of red paper.
The first line reads "Spring returns to the earth, a thousand mountains are beautiful," and the second line reads "Blessings fill the world, all things are new." The horizontal scroll reads "Welcoming the New Year."
"Put it on the door?"
"Um."
The three people arrived at the gate.
Fu Yibai stood on a chair, with Annie and Scarlett each holding one side, looking up at him as he pasted up the Spring Festival couplets.
"The left side should be a little higher, no, no, a little lower, just a tiny bit lower."
"It's veering to the right! Turn it one degree to the left."
Is the horizontal scroll centered?
After seven or eight minutes of fiddling, the two Spring Festival couplets were finally pasted up neatly.
Fu Yibai jumped off the chair, took a few steps back, and looked at the door.
The red paper with black lettering, placed at the entrance of a Spanish-style villa in Beverly Hills, creates a sense of absurd yet warm incongruity.
"nice."
Anne took his arm and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Although I can't understand what's written on it."
"It describes the return of spring, the revival of all things, and the abundance of blessings in the world."
"So beautiful."
Scarlett stood on his other side and took his arm.
The three people stood at the door, looking at the Spring Festival couplets. The night wind blew by, carrying the rustling of palm leaves and the faint sound of waves in the distance.
"Go inside, the dumplings will get cold."
Fu Yibai patted their hands.
Back at the restaurant, the three of them sat down at the table.
Fu Yibai picked up a dumpling, dipped it in the sauce Scarlett had prepared, and put it in his mouth.
The savory aroma of beef, the refreshing taste of celery, and the chewy texture of noodles blend together in your mouth to create a warm and comforting flavor.
"tasty."
Scarlett's eyes lit up, and the corners of her mouth curved into a smug smile.
Annie also picked one up and took a careful bite.
Her brows relaxed, and her eyes widened slightly.
"It's really delicious."
"Of course, I made the filling."
Scarlett picked up her glass and raised it towards Fu Yibai.
Come, let us pay our respects.
Happy New Year."
"Happy New Year."
Anne also raised her glass.
The three wine glasses clinked together, making a crisp sound.
"bite."
Fu Yibai took a sip of wine and put down the glass.
After the New Year's Eve dinner, the three of them snuggled up on the sofa to watch TV. Fu Yibai sat in the middle, with Annie and Scarlett leaning on his shoulders on either side.
The night outside the window grew deeper and deeper. Scarlett's hand rested on Fu Yibai's leg, her fingers gently tracing circles on his leg.
Anne rested her head on his shoulder, her breathing even and deep, her eyes half-closed.
"Tired?"
Fu Yibai looked down at Annie.
"Um."
Annie's voice had a lazy, nasal quality.
"Go to sleep then."
"Together."
Scarlett sat up from his lap, stretched, and pulled up the hem of her sweater to reveal a glimpse of her toned waist.
The three people went upstairs.
The bedroom is large, and the bed is also large.
When Fu Yibai came out after taking a shower, Annie and Scarlett were already in bed.
Anne was wearing a cream-colored silk nightgown, her hair was spread out on the pillow, and she was holding a book in her hand, but her eyes were not on the book, but on him.
Scarlett was wearing a black slip dress, lying on her side, propping her head up with one hand, and a mischievous smile on her lips.
"Fu, who are you spending time with today?"
Fu Yibai dried his hair and glanced at the two of them.
"I'll accompany you."
Scarlett chuckled and patted the middle of the bed.
"Then hurry up and come over here."
Fu Yibai threw away the towel, walked over, and lay down between the two of them.
The mattress sank in, and Anne and Scarlett leaned in at the same time, one on each side, their warm bodies pressed against him. The different scents of their perfumes mingled together, creating a wonderful, intoxicating aroma.
Fu Yibai's palms were pressed against the curves of two different bodies, warm and smooth, with different temperatures and sensations.
As night deepened, the room was filled with intertwined soft moans, rising and falling, like a duet without lyrics.
