Chapter 831 - 514: Reconstruction, Conflict (Part 2)

In the midst of the conflict, two groups faced off: one with four people and the other with three. They all appeared to be yellow-skinned Asians. Wang Zhifan quickly recognized the three as members of the Xia Country group that had once invited him to join. As for the other four, they triggered a vague memory, likely players he had seen in Xiaohe Village before.

"Xia Country bastards! This place belongs to our great Han Country, damn it! If you don’t back off, we’ll kill you all, damn it!"

The speaker was a tall, thin young man in a suit with very small eyes. His manner of speaking made it clear he was a Han Country citizen. Beside him stood three other Han Country people, forming a team of Han Country players.

However, facing the threats from the Han Country players, the three from Xia Country were not backing down. Despite being outnumbered, their aura was not inferior, even showing a faint eagerness for battle.

"Han Country sticks! We clearly found this place first! If you want a fight, bring it on! Let’s see who survives to the end!"

As they exchanged words, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, with both sides ready to clash at any moment.

Just then, an unexpected guest appeared, casually walking toward the brightly lit ghostly manor, pulling their attention away.

That person was Wang Zhifan, who was indifferent to the players’ dispute, merely eager to slay monsters and seek loot.

"You’re asking for death!"

"Let’s take down this bastard first!"

Neither side was willing to watch a third party seize the prized location, launching their assault immediately.

The first round of attacks came from both sides’ gun-wielding players, bullets flying toward Wang Zhifan’s back from both directions. Yet, they all seemed to miss, failing to stop his approach toward the haunted manor.

"Isn’t that the lone wolf player? Hold your fire!"

The leader of the Xia Country side quickly recognized Wang Zhifan.

He had previously focused on not letting his guard down against the four Han Country players. Now that a temporary alliance was formed, he finally saw clearly in the night the person emerging was someone he had interacted with in Xiaohe Village, and ordered his two companions to stop shooting.

"Not that we have a choice; this guy’s a bit eerie. My bullets can’t seem to reach him."

The other Xia Country young player, who had just fired, said seriously, keeping his gun aiming in a shooting posture.

"As expected, the lone wolf has some tricks up his sleeve... But he’s too arrogant, completely disregarding all of us."

The third Xia Country female player followed up with an assessment, but oddly, her voice came from elsewhere, indicating the image she left was only an illusion.

"Ah Ning, ignore him for now! Watch the Han Country side more closely! This lone wolf might be more useful!"

The leading youth continued, advising the Assassin in the team not to test Wang Zhifan and to focus on the current threat.

"Heh... I might, but the Han Country group has already made their move again."

The woman’s real voice quickly responded from the air, indicating the four Han Country members had launched their second attack on Wang Zhifan, who was encroaching on their monster-hunting ground.

At this point, among the Han Country players, two were no longer visible, leaving only a gunman and a Mage intensely guarding against the Xia Country group.

Wang Zhifan had reached the point ten meters from the haunted manor’s entrance, perhaps close enough to trigger a response from the ghosts inside.

But someone refused to let him enter so easily, even if he had casually withstood a barrage of bullets just moments before.

As he took his next step, a thin, white cloth appeared out of nowhere in the air, wrapping quickly around him with the intent to bind his body.

He immediately sensed the attack but seemed to react too slowly, getting securely wrapped in the white cloth like a mummy, pinned to the spot.

Simultaneously, a distance away, about a hundred meters, a Han Country person gripped a doll with both hands, hiding in the darkness behind the manor’s walls. The doll’s appearance closely mimicked Wang Zhifan bound like a mummy.

With eyes wide open, this Han Country individual seemed to exert maximum effort, trying with all his might to crush the doll in his hands.

Another Han Country member quickly appeared beside the bandaged Wang Zhifan, attack-ready with a dagger aimed viciously at his neck, coordinating with the distant ally.

Wang Zhifan seemed powerless to break free from the bindings, as the sharp dagger pierced through his neck instantly.

However, the Assassin’s eyes suddenly narrowed in shock, and he quickly disappeared into invisibility.

The reason for the Assassin’s change in demeanor was the realization something was amiss.

In particular, after striking Wang Zhifan’s neck, no blood flowed, nor was there any genuine tactile feedback, as if hitting air, indicating their attack had failed.

"Ah!!!"

As the Han Country Assassin player retreated, a scream tore through the night.

Everyone turned toward the sound’s origin, discovering it came from a place blocked by the manor’s wall, the scream emerging suddenly from there.

If anyone happened to be in that spot, they would witness what appeared to be Wang Zhifan wrapped in fabric like a mummy only now appearing at that location, striking a pose of sheathing his sword.

Beside Wang Zhifan lay a Han Country player, chest pierced, collapsed in a pool of blood, his eyes devoid of life.

"Shooting at me is one thing, I can forgive that once, but to provoke me a second time, don’t blame me for striking too hard."

Speaking nonchalantly, Wang Zhifan knelt to pick up the doll that the Han Country player had thrown aside, examining its details.

[Deadly Doll No. 6 (Rare)]

[This is the sixth in the Deadly Doll series. Using it can envelop a target within 150 meters tightly in white cloth for a brief period, usable up to three times a day for up to six seconds each time.

The cloth is difficult to tear or escape from inside, but can be pierced from the outside to inflict harm.

The binding power is strong enough to suppress most humanoid enemies but less effective on non-humanoids.

Once the doll binds a target, squeezing it enhances pressure on the opponent.

The force applied to the doll will transfer to the target at a sevenfold magnitude, and with sufficient strength, you can crush them into fragments.]

"Interesting, this thing seems to suit me well."

After briefly scanning the doll’s description, Wang Zhifan suddenly used it to activate the binding skill toward a seemingly empty spot in the darkness.

Though appearing empty, the white cloth materialized from the void, quickly forming the silhouette of a human, indicating the doll’s binding ability had succeeded.

"Indeed, it suits me well. My perception lets me easily locate invisible enemies."

The person he captured was the Han Country Assassin player who had returned quietly to check on their partner, though, unfortunately, Wang Zhifan used the newly acquired doll’s skill on them as a test.

As Wang Zhifan squeezed the doll tighter with one hand, a grating sound echoed in the air, emanating from the mummified Han Country Assassin until only a mangled corpse remained, complete with shattered bones within the flesh.

His strength was formidable, even with one hand far surpassing the average player’s dual-wield, and the doll’s power further magnified it sevenfold, pulverizing the unfortunate Han Country Assassin into a mess.

"Well then, all his equipment was crushed... But anything so easily destroyed probably wasn’t any good to begin with, so let it be."

Having nonchalantly tested the skill, Wang Zhifan recalled he’d destroyed his potential loot but didn’t mind much, gathering items of interest before heading toward the haunted manor’s gate again.
