Chapter 2913 - 2443: I Trust You Completely
As Ashton Heath held Joanna Lawrence and turned his head, his gaze fell on Annie Lawrence’s pale and lifeless face. The warmth in his eyes instantly faded. "You’ve consistently betrayed Joanna behind her back. I wanted to teach you a lesson, but you’ve already reaped what you had sown, so there’s no need for me to lay a hand on you," he said.
Finishing his words, Ashton Heath didn’t spare her another glance, turning his head to whisper to Joanna Lawrence, "We’ve seen her. There’s no need to waste our time here anymore. Let’s go."
Joanna Lawrence nodded: "Okay."
She came here to find out what Annie Lawrence wanted to tell her before her death.
Now, she knew everything.
The hatred Annie Lawrence had for her, probably wouldn’t lessen even until her last breath.
But all these no longer mattered to Joanna Lawrence.
When Annie Lawrence died, these things would matter even less.
The two of them turned and left.
As they approached the door, they heard Annie Lawrence’s hoarse and desperate screams. "Joanna Lawrence, you won’t die a peaceful death. I’ll never let you go. Even if I become a ghost, I won’t let you go."
Upon hearing this, Joanna Lawrence hesitated for a moment, then continued her way out.
Annie Lawrence was left in the hospital room, still screaming hysterically.
"Joanna Lawrence, I hate you, I hate you!"
"Ahhhh, Joanna Lawrence, you’re so lowly."
*
They left the hospital.
Inside the car, Joanna Lawrence seemed very silent.
"What’s wrong? Are you feeling down?" Ashton Heath could sense her change in mood. He reached over to rub her head, "You should not have come at all. One could imagine the kind of words a person like her would say."
"You don’t need to be bothered by her words. Are you hungry? I know of a late-night snack shop that tastes quite good. Shall I take you there for some food?"
Ashton Heath sensed Joanna Lawrence’s low spirits and softly comforted her.
Joanna Lawrence turned to look at him, "I’m not feeling upset. I have no regard for Annie’s words. I already knew that she had nothing good to say to me."
"But I feel that you are upset." Ashton Heath brushed the hair away from her forehead and stared deeply into her eyes, "I trust my intuition. If you have anything on your mind, feel free to tell me. Don’t keep it to yourself."
"Baby, I am your husband. There’s nothing you can’t tell me."
Joanna Lawrence was quiet for a while before she said, "I did not expect Annie to hate me that much, and certainly didn’t expect the reason to be that she thinks I deliberately stole the guys that she liked. I still remember the guys she mentioned, but I never competed with her over them."
"From the beginning to the end, I never did anything. I didn’t like her very much since we were kids, but never thought of intentionally stealing the guys she liked."
Joanna finished, blinked her eyes, as if worried that the man in front of her wouldn’t believe her. She emphasized word by word, "Ashton Heath, I didn’t do any of the things she accused me of. If it weren’t for what she said today, I wouldn’t have known the reason why she hates me."
"You don’t have to explain everything to me." The man’s slender white finger gently touched her lips. His dark, deep eyes filled with tenderness as he said softly, "I didn’t believe a word she said."
"Baby, I have told you before, I trust you 100 percent. In any instance, at all times, I will never doubt you. You have done nothing wrong. No matter what the reason for Annie to hate you, you don’t have to care about it."
"It is her who is mentally dark and jealous that you’re better than her in every way."
