Chapter 1205: Stop Right There
Chapter 1205: Stop Right There
Upon hearing Lily Turner’s remark, Athena Linton’s curiosity about the matter grew even more. However, no matter how much she inquired, Lily wouldn’t say much, only advising her to stay away from Grant Heath.
Squeak!
Just as Lily was at a loss from Athena’s persistent questions, Easton Holmes pushed the door open and walked in, "Honey! It’s time to go back to the room and rest."
As Lily hadn’t come downstairs for quite some time, Easton figured that Athena must have been keeping her occupied. Regardless of whether he would interrupt their conversation, he went upstairs to find her.
"Uh, I was just about to head downstairs." Lily had wanted to leave long ago, but since Athena kept probing her, she couldn’t just get up and leave directly.
As soon as Easton finished speaking, Lily quickly stood up and walked towards him. Seeing her so quick to move, Easton thought she must have been overwhelmed and hurriedly stepped forward to pull her in, "Are you tired?"
Her schedule was quite regular, and staying up late was not in her routine. Ever since she became pregnant, she paid even more attention to her rest time.
"Uh-huh." Lily didn’t exactly feel sleepy, just a bit tired, and she desperately needed to get out of there for a break, "Athena! I’m going downstairs with your brother..."
Seeing her brother and sister-in-law heading downstairs, Athena immediately got up and followed, "I’m going downstairs too, I’ll go with you guys."
She wasn’t planning to keep pestering Lily; she just wanted to go out and hang out with her friends. Since today was New Year’s Eve, she had a plan to play all night with her friends.
"Your sister-in-law is tired. You can hang out with her tomorrow." Easton didn’t know Athena was planning to meet her friends. Seeing her wanting to go downstairs with them, he thought she was still thinking of pestering Lily, and this was something he couldn’t agree to, nor allow to happen.
Lily thought the same, but unlike Easton, she didn’t say it out loud. She just stood quietly by his side, waiting for Athena’s response.
"I know sis-in-law is tired now. I’m not going downstairs to go with you to the room; I’m going out to meet my friends." Seeing her brother’s expression, Athena wanted to tease him by lying, but thinking of the consequences of doing so, she decided to tell the truth instead.
So that’s how it is!
Realizing that Athena was going out to play with her friends, Lily secretly breathed a sigh of relief. While relaxing, she also felt a bit guilty, realizing her own lack of trust in her sister-in-law.
Easton, on the other hand, didn’t think too much about it and didn’t feel any embarrassment. He even generously offered his blessings, "Hope you and your friends have a great time!"
"Thank you!"
"You’re welcome!"
After a brief exchange of pleasantries between the siblings, the three of them left the room together and went downstairs.
Seeing the three of them coming down together, the four elders watching TV in the living room diverted half of their attention to the three of them, no longer fully focused on the program.
"Mom! I’m going out to meet my friends." After speaking to Serena Zimmerman, Athena turned to Callix Linton and Amelia Linton, "Grandpa! Auntie! Happy New Year in advance! See you tomorrow!"
She waved to the others, ready to head out.
Seeing this, Michael Linton immediately called out to her, "Stop right there!"
"Dad! What are your orders?"
Athena stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Michael Linton. Although she was quite afraid of her imposing father, she suddenly found some courage with Grandpa and Auntie around.
