Chapter 899: Not Interested in Married Men
Chapter 899: Not Interested in Married Men
"No, it’s not a burden..." Summer Monroe shook her head vigorously and said, "I used to be someone who didn’t know how to cherish myself. It was your affection that made me feel my own importance. I’m really grateful for your love, truly."
Julian Kingston remained silent for two seconds before asking, "Do you love him?"
Summer Monroe wasn’t sure whether she should tell the truth, but better to rip the band-aid off quickly; Julian Kingston already knew she was married to Damian Knight, so she simply nodded and admitted, "I do."
Julian Kingston closed his eyes, looking very tired, and said, "I see. You can leave."
Summer Monroe hesitated for a moment.
"Your medicine..."
"Don’t worry, I’ll take it. I’m not stupid. Why would I give up my life for a woman?"
"But you went undercover..."
"Stop flattering yourself," Julian Kingston said coldly, "Going undercover was largely for my own reasons, not because of you. That guy nearly killed me. I just went to get revenge."
Summer Monroe nodded, "Then remember to take your medicine. I’ll bring you more tomorrow."
"No need." Julian Kingston looked at her coldly and refused, "Someone who’s already married shouldn’t be visiting other men every day, right?"
"You’re my friend, visiting a friend—"
"Don’t say it!" Julian Kingston raised his voice, "Don’t talk about friends. We can’t be friends anymore. Just go, I don’t want to see you again."
Summer Monroe tightened her grip unconsciously, and for a moment, Julian Kingston seemed a bit unfamiliar to her.
Unfamiliar to the point she almost couldn’t recognize him.
"I understand." Summer Monroe nodded, "Then I’ll leave."
Julian Kingston didn’t speak; he just closed his eyes and stopped looking at her.
With no other choice, Summer Monroe turned and left.
As soon as she left the hospital room, Ronan Kingston and Old Master Kingston approached her.
Old Master Kingston was the first to ask, "How did it go? Did you convince him?"
Summer Monroe shook her head and turned to Ronan Kingston, "He doesn’t want to see me anymore. I’ll give you the prescription. Have Isaac Ross instruct the hospital’s doctors to brew it for half an hour according to the formula."
Ronan Kingston nodded with a complex expression and said, "I’ll walk you out."
"No need." Summer Monroe declined politely, "Patients recover faster with good spirits. Since it’s the weekend, spend more time talking to him. Also, remind him to be careful with his wound."
"Alright!"
After giving her advice, Summer Monroe didn’t linger any longer.
Since Julian Kingston didn’t want to see her, it was better for her not to appear frequently.
Once Summer Monroe left, Old Master Kingston couldn’t hold back any longer and strode into the hospital room, scolding, "Why are you so foolish? So what if she’s married? Women can’t resist persistence. Just get well and continue pursuing her. Why drive her away?"
Julian Kingston frowned and said, "Grandpa, don’t blame me for this. I have no feelings for her anymore."
"No feelings? You’re not a vegetable, don’t try to fool me!"
"I’m serious," Julian Kingston stubbornly said, "I’m not interested in married women. Please don’t mention her again in front of me; I find it unpleasant!"
Old Master Kingston was speechless, unable to tell whether Julian Kingston was telling the truth or lying.
Beside them, Ronan Kingston could only feel a headache coming on.
This is all so messed up!
If he’d known it would turn out like this, he wouldn’t have told his brother that Damian was already married.
But keeping such a thing secret would have been impossible in the long run anyway.
...
Meanwhile.
After leaving Julian Kingston’s hospital room, Summer Monroe went to check on Dottie’s Mom and then took a taxi to the Stanton Group.
Summer had arrived, and it was time for the Stanton Group to have a name change.
