Chapter 182 Rules of Conduct for the Recreation Area
Chapter 182 Rules of Conduct for the Recreation Area
"Heh..." Leng Meng let out a soft sigh, her perpetually icy lips twitching slightly. "I didn't expect you could make a cat do a backflip!"
[Ding! Leng Meng's favorability +5]
Current favorability rating: 90/100
"I only occasionally show my skills to special people." Lin Feng retracted his fingers and boldly looked into Leng Meng's eyes.
Leng Meng met Lin Feng's gaze, a faint smile playing on her lips:
"A special person? Tell me, how are they special?"
Lin Feng's gaze was sincere: "Beautiful yet sharp, capable yet warm, she is captivating and impossible to look away from, and one dares not underestimate her in the slightest."
Leng Meng raised her eyebrows almost imperceptibly, a faint smile playing at the corners of her lips.
She didn't reply, but simply stood up briskly and dusted off non-existent dust from her uniform.
"Today you will be going to the exercise yard to maintain order."
Her voice regained its businesslike clarity and indifference, but the content of her words carried a hint of warning.
"Those guys have been acting up lately, keep your eyes peeled."
She turned her head to the side, her gaze lingering on Lin Feng for a moment:
"If you feel things are about to get out of control, don't try to be brave. Just call me using the dedicated channel I gave you."
Lin Feng's expression turned serious, and he nodded solemnly: "Understood."
The two walked side by side in silence for a while.
As Leng Meng approached the fork in the road leading to the cafeteria, she stopped.
"This will do," she said, without looking at him. "I'm having breakfast with the warden later to report some things."
Lin Feng immediately nodded and said, "Understood. Well... I'll head over now."
"Hmm." Leng Meng responded without saying anything more, then turned and quickly stepped onto another path.
Lin Feng stood there for a moment, watching her straight back disappear before letting out a soft breath and turning to join the sparse crowd heading towards the cafeteria.
........................
As Lin Feng entered the cafeteria, he immediately spotted Vassim, Anna, and Evelyn in the corner.
Wasim was struggling with a piece of burnt bread with his thick fingers, Anna was sipping her vegetable soup, and Evelyn was slowly peeling a hard-boiled egg.
Upon seeing Lin Feng appear, the three immediately waved to him.
Lin Feng quickly walked to the food pick-up window and ordered a sandwich set meal.
The cafeteria lady looked up and saw it was Lin Feng, and immediately became more efficient.
She picked out a much thicker sandwich and placed it in the center of her plate, then neatly added a slice of fruit, a glass of milk, and finally placed a bowl of oatmeal porridge that was almost overflowing on top.
Lin Feng, carrying the heavy tray, understood perfectly.
This "special attention" treatment is mostly because of the impression left on the cafeteria lady yesterday when I ate at the same table as Leng Meng.
"Good morning." Lin Feng sat down in the empty seat next to Wasim.
"Good morning!" Anna's voice was clear and bright. "Did you sleep well last night?"
Her smile was natural, as if it were just a casual question.
"It's alright," Lin Feng replied vaguely, picking up his cutlery.
Wasim focused entirely on the food on his plate, only occasionally making a few unimportant remarks while chewing his bread.
He didn't mention a word about Lin Feng not returning last night.
He even kept the incident of the "fake Lin Feng" outside the door tempting him to open it to him to the bottom of his heart.
Wasim had his own wisdom for survival: knowing too much and asking too many questions are never a good thing!
Especially when dealing with an unfathomable figure like Lin Feng, one must be careful to maintain appropriate boundaries and give the other party the necessary sense of propriety.
Lin Feng was happy to have some peace and quiet and quickly finished the food on his plate.
The four of them got up almost simultaneously, put their plates in the recycling bin, and then walked towards the infirmary in tacit agreement to collect their "nutritional supplements" for the day.
Vivian was wearing a slightly oversized white medical gown, her long golden hair tied into a neat low ponytail, and she was standing behind the dispensing station counting several rows of dark brown bottles.
Seeing Lin Feng and the others enter, Vivian quickly took out four vials of nutrient solution and handed them to Anna, Evelyn, and Vassim in turn.
When it was Lin Feng's turn, as she handed him the nutrient solution, she quickly pulled out a small brown medicine bottle from behind her back, and while the others weren't looking, she swiftly stuffed it into Lin Feng's hand, winked at him, and whispered:
"I specially prepared this kidney tonic for you, so you can take it."
Lin Feng's lips twitched, and he put on a disdainful look: "Who are you looking down on? Do I need this?"
Despite saying that, he had already discreetly slipped the medicine bottle into his pocket with his free hand, muttering to himself:
It's good to replenish it; consider it a routine little maintenance treatment.
Vivian was amused by his insincere behavior and gently nudged him.
"I know, I know, you're the best. Just think of it as having a drink to soothe your throat."
........................
The four left the infirmary, walked through a quiet corridor, and arrived at Qin Yue's duty room.
Lin Feng and Evelyn stepped forward to draw their patrol assignments for the day, and the results popped up randomly on the screen:
[Lin Feng & Evelyn:]
Patrols will be conducted on all three floors above ground from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
[Plain patrol in the underground Δ area from 15:00 PM to 16:00 PM]
Qin Yue glanced at the screen and added, "From 10 to 11 a.m. is the time when the prisoners in Section D are allowed to exercise. You two go directly to the exercise area to maintain order, understand?"
Lin Feng and Evelyn exchanged a glance and nodded.
Wasim and Anna were assigned to ground patrols from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. and from 21:00 to 22:00 p.m.
However, they also need to participate in maintaining order in the exercise area in the morning.
........................
At 9:55, Lin Feng and the other three reunited at the entrance of the exercise area.
As soon as he stood still, Lin Feng noticed a conspicuous notice posted on the wall: "Rules for Duty in the Exercise Area".
The crowd immediately surrounded them.
There are five rules in total:
[Rule 1: After prisoners enter the area, please immediately take a headcount. If you get three different numbers after three counts, use the highest number and immediately request reinforcements.]
[Rule 2: Inmates are strictly prohibited from spontaneously gathering in groups of 4 or 13. If such gatherings are discovered, they must be dispersed by whistle.]
[Rule 3: Prisoners are permitted to converse in hushed tones. However, if all conversations cease simultaneously and all prisoners look in one direction, without confirming the reason, immediately order everyone to lie face down.]
[Rule 4: On-duty prison guards must stand back-to-back in pairs, forming a circular observation circle. If your partner leaves your side without reason for more than 10 seconds, you should temporarily consider them a potential threat.]
[Rule 5: In the event of a mass riot, your primary task is not to suppress it, but to quickly evacuate to the safety exit.]
After the rules were read, a subdued murmur arose from the crowd.
"This...this rule is too bizarre! How can you get three different numbers after counting three times?"
"The third thing was absolutely chilling; everyone suddenly fell silent and looked in the same direction... What could have appeared?"
"Standing back to back, and your partner disappears for ten seconds and you treat them like an enemy? Could it be that your partner is possessed by some strange entity...?"
"Requesting reinforcements... How do we request them? Do we ask the guards in black? What if they ignore us?"
