Chapter 733: Nanami’s Proposal
Chapter 733: Nanami’s Proposal
Her voice dripped with disbelief. "You’re asking me to ally with my enemies?"
She scoffed. "That is practically the same as asking me to trust someone as treacherous as you."
Nanami showed no sign of anger. Instead, he smiled. "Why the rush?"
He gestured toward the chairs. "Allow me to show you something first."
His eyes landed on Ivy. "It may help you make a better decision."
Ivy hesitated. Her instincts urged her to leave. Yet curiosity won. Eventually, everyone sat down.
Nanami slowly closed his eyes. "Close your eyes as well."
After a brief hesitation, Ivy complied. The others followed.
The moment everyone closed their eyes, Nanami softly spoke a single word. "Future."
Instantly, the world changed. A vision appeared before them. Countless superior beings descended from the skies.
Some arrived in massive spacecraft. Others emerged from sleek hover vehicles. The heavens themselves seemed crowded with vessels.
The moment they landed on Earth, chaos erupted. Humans died by the millions. Some humans lost not only their lives but their souls. Others had their bodies forcibly occupied by superior beings.
Watching the horrifying scene, Ivy felt chills run down her spine.
The vision continued. Nation after nation fell. Military forces were effortlessly crushed. Entire governments were overthrown.
Humanity’s resistance slowly disappeared.
As Ivy watched, only one thought remained inside her mind.
’If this truly happens, I might have to take my family into space.’
Yet even that hope quickly vanished, and the vision shifted. Space itself became filled with superior beings.
Their fleets stretched endlessly across the stars. There was nowhere left to run, nowhere left to hide.
Silence filled everyone’s minds. Finally, Nanami spoke. "Stop."
The vision shattered instantly. Everyone opened their eyes.
The room returned. Nanami looked visibly exhausted.
Sweat covered his forehead. His breathing had become slightly heavier.
Seeing everyone’s grim expressions, he chuckled weakly. "Come on."
He leaned back in his chair. "I only showed you a possible future."
His smile widened. "Don’t look at me as though I caused it."
Then his expression became serious. "Now that you’ve seen it..."
His eyes locked onto Ivy. "Are you still planning to continue fighting us?"
Before anyone else could respond, Ivy immediately stood up. Her chair scraped against the floor.
"Even if that future is real, I refuse to join hands with someone as suspicious as you. Not to mention, I am not a saint. If humanity dies, so be it. I only plan to survive. You think you can use me as a pawn, threatening me with the humanity whom I see as a pawn? Amusing."
Nanami sighed. "I’m not denying that I plan to use you as a pawn."
Those words immediately caused everyone’s expressions to change.
However, Nanami continued speaking. "You have a right to rule this planet and planet Astra."
The room became silent. "You have been kept away from your destiny."
Ivy blinked. For the first time, genuine confusion appeared on her face.
Nanami continued. "You should at least fight for what belongs to you."
Silas narrowed her eyes. "So that’s your true goal."
Her voice became cold. "You want to enter politics through her."
Nanami smiled. "Partially."
His fingers tapped lightly against the table. "I need a powerful backing."
He pointed directly at Ivy. "And I believe she is one of the best candidates."
"Then why not Silas? Why me?"
Others may think that she was the most powerful, but she, who sparred with Silas, knew better.
Nanami continued. "If you weren’t standing here today, I might have considered them."
His gaze became firm. "But you’re here."
He pointed toward Ivy once again. "So I don’t need to consider anyone else."
For the first time, hesitation appeared in Ivy’s eyes.
Her heart pounded slightly. "Why?"
The question escaped her lips almost instinctively. "Why me?"
Nanami smiled. A strange certainty appeared in his expression.
"Because regardless of what choices you make..."
His voice became calm.
"Whether you fight. Whether you negotiate. Whether you try to avoid this path entirely. You will still arrive at the same destination. Death."
"Shut up." Silas raged.
Nanami’s final words echoed heavily through the ruins.
"Because I believe you are one of the rightful contenders."
He paused. "Not only for the position of king..."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"But also among the future rulers and princesses of planet Astra. All of them could survive Ivy, not you."
Silas’s pupil dilated.
"We are after your life because, in the eyes of our world, you are nothing more than an anomaly."
Nanami’s voice was calm, yet every word carried an unsettling certainty.
"There will come a day when the humans themselves will vote to eliminate to survive. When that happens, you will have no choice but to hand over your life."
Despite the grim prediction, Ivy neither accepted nor rejected his offer.
Her expression remained calm and unreadable. "If that is the case, then what exactly are you proposing?"
Hearing those words, Nanami knew he had finally captured Ivy’s attention.
A faint smile appeared on his face. "It’s quite simple."
He leaned back in his chair. "I will help you inherit the throne."
His eyes narrowed slightly. "However, there is one condition."
Ivy remained silent.
"You must not interfere with my research."
For a brief moment, the room became quiet. Then Ivy suddenly chuckled. "So all of this is for your research?"
Her gaze sharpened. "Tell me, what kind of research are you conducting that even the current rulers refuse to support you?"
She crossed her arms. "Surely it isn’t something good."
Nanami simply shook his head. "You don’t need to know the details."
His tone became firm. "What you need to know is that I am not harming anyone."
He paused before continuing. "No humans will be harmed. No superior beings will be harmed. Nobody involved will suffer because of my research."
Those words only made Ivy even more curious.
’If nobody is being harmed, then why are the superior beings so strongly opposed to it?’
The more she thought about it, the more suspicious it became. Nanami looked directly into her eyes.
"I will continue providing you updates regarding Tammy."
